This is the time of year that we all reflect on the things that we have to be thankful for. It is important that we all continuously give thanks and show appreciation for the life that we are blessed to live. The other theme that resonates in my heart when I think of Thanksgiving, is the giving: the ability of people to come together for a common goal and give all that we have to offer for the betterment of everyone involved. This is the essence of a successful team.
In order to better explain the requirements of a fruitful team we must first define what a team is. It’s been often said that the word team stands for “Together Everyone Achieves More.” A team is defined in the business dictionary as a group of people with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a task, job, or project. It is momentous to surround yourself with others that are able to promote you and equally significant that we give our best efforts to endow the team. When the team as a whole is dedicated to giving their best, the level of the team is raised exponentially. What are you giving?
The first Thanksgiving celebration was a 3-day festival held in 1621 in honor of the pilgrim’s first harvest. The pilgrims invited the Native Americans and they brought venison. This was a time in which the Native American’s and the pilgrims hunted, and feasted together as a community. As you sit and eat your turkey and enjoy time with your loved ones. As you continue with the rest of your year, I challenge you to give and give thanks continuously.
